Paint/Glaze/Stain

I think picking your paint colors can be the most difficult part! We wanted to have our walls glazed, which means we needed to choose an underneath color, and then a color for the top that would be mixed with clear glaze and wiped thinly onto your walls so the underneath color still shows through. We also were doing stained trim and painted doors, so we needed colors that would work with the glaze.

Here's several samples they painted on our wall to help us decide. If you look close, you can see pencil circles on the wall. the bottom left one is the glaze two-tone color we will do, and the dark paint next to it is the color we will use for the painted trim inside the bedrooms upstairs. The very bottom left color is the color of our interior doors.

Here's the painters staining the front door. It looks really dark from this angle, but the color turned out beautiful and matches well with both the outside and inside. We also had them put eurathane over the top to protect it and give it that cool shiny door look we saw at the Parade of Homes!

You can see a snippet of the stain color in this picture. Look pretty dark? Not to worry! After they did three coats of the shiny lacker, it really lightens it up and gives it a beautiful glow.
