Mom & Dad's First Visit

My mom and dad had been wanting to come out and see us in Wyoming for some time, but hadn't been able to with my dad's cancer. They finally were able to find a spot in August in between chemo sessions where he had enough energy and health to come and see us for a couple days. It was so great to have them here, and the saying is true that a visit from family can be the piece of heaven you need. This was a double duty visit, because they hadn't seen our town home we bought in May (where we currently live), and they hadn't seen our new construction site we were working on.
This wasn't all my parents saw of the lot, we came back three times the next day to get the raidon piping in! That adventure is later in the post.My parents stopped by Costco on their way up and bought some unbelievably huge and delicious steaks with all the fresh veggies you could imagine. My dad is on a whole foods diet to try and combat the cancer, so it was fun to grill up some foods I had never tried before!
We had grilled bok choy, potatoes, corn, and who knows the other veggie names, but it was good! The steaks were superb too!

My dad had so much fun with our pup, Layla. He was just what she needed, and she might have been just what he needed... He was trying to teach her all types of tricks and she immediately responded to him.

See that black pipe running along the edges of the basement? That's the raidon piping I mentioned earlier in the post. My parents came to the lot three more times in 3 hours to help us put it in. The area we are building in has problems with raidon gas, so it is now required by code that all homes must have raidon piping underneath their basement floors. It then must be ran up the walls and out the roof. I was so grateful they were willing to run around and do the crazy "general contractor" errands with me in those three hours. They kindly offered their car to pick up the huge piping that would have never fit in ours. We had to strap one to the top and strap the other to the back. We then had to go back and forth two more times to pick up supplies the plumbers didn't have.

My dad and mom helped me roll out the piping and get it situated. I wish I could have had more talk time than work time with them, but in my dad's famous words, "working together is playing together." Thanks so much for your help mom and dad! We couldn't have done it without you! Can't wait to see you again up here!
